Iron Age Designs Radius Grating
One of the more challenging trench drain designs is a radius drain. These drains are used to surround fountains or follow the curved contour of a building or hardscape. If designed correctly, these can look simply stunning. In the past, one of the biggest problems with making a radius drain has been the grating: No radius grating was available! Iron Age Designs has permanently changed this situation.
Over the last few years, Iron Age has been quietly building a product line of radius grates for their most popular decorative trench drain patterns. They currently have four different patterns of radius grates in sizes that range from 3 foot radius to 65 foot radius. Chances are you will find a grating design in the diameter you need. However, you can create a custom trench grate on any radius you wish to specify. Or, you can choose from one of the many decorative designs currently available and have a custom radius designed. An additional mold and design cost will be required. This custom service has made Iron Age the leading decorative radius trench drain manufacturer in North America.

The model number indicate the grate width and length (in inches – ex. 620 = 6” x 20”), as well as the degree of curvature (R3 = 3 foot radius).

Custom Radius Frames by Iron Age
Another dilemma associated with building a radius drain is the frame. There are many trench drain channels and frames in the marketplace that are straight. Unlike their standard grates, Iron Age radius grates will not fit into any channel bodies made by a major manufacturer. The custom radius grates require custom radius channel framing. Again, Iron Age has risen to meet this demand with their custom fabricated radial frames. Iron Age frames are available in 6 designs. Depending on your specific need, you can select from one of the frame designs they sell or have a custom frame made to your specification.
