Strongwell is one of the industry leaders in pultruded fiberglass. Its Duradek© and Duragrid© products are made using this process In which a continuous fiberglass mat and “rovings” are pulled through guides, through a resin bath and preformers prior to being wrapped in a synthetic veil. This resin-fiberglass composite achieves its final form when it is “pulled” through a heated die. After the continuous shape has cooled, it is cut to a specific length. Load bars and cross members of Duradek© and Duragrid© are manufactured in separate forming processes then assembled at prescribed spacing to achieve a specific load class.

Duradek© Standard Pultruded Grating
This is standard grating available from distributors nationwide. It is available in 1” and 1 ½” thick I bars or 2” thick T bars. Duradek uses polyester or vinyl ester resin which makes the grating flame retardant. The bearing bars use both glass matting and glass roving which result in a longitudinal and multidirectional reinforced product. The synthetic “veiling” material used in Duradek© provides superior corrosion resistance.

Duragrid© Custom Grating
Custom pultrusion products can be designed for your specific application. For times that our standard grating options don’t meet your load requirements, the engineers at Strongwell can help customize a grating to meet your needs. Duragrid© offers options such as bar spacing selection, bar shape, custom fabrication, cross-member placement and custom color or resin.

Duragrid© Heavy Duty Grating
Heavy load bearing grating can be made from Strongwell pultruded fiberglass. This grating is designed in the traditional “metal bar grating” style but is made with high strength and impact resistant fiberglass. This grating is durable enough to take heavy wheel traffic, such as tow motors and heavy truck traffic. In warehouse applications, we have replaced stainless steel grates that bend and warp with Duragrid© Heavy Duty Grating.

Duragrid Phenolic Grating
Duragrid© Phenolic Grating is a dramatic innovation for applications where fire safety is a concern. The phenolic resin used in making these products offer superior flame and high temperature resistance. Lower smoke emissions and smaller amounts of toxic fumes are released when burning does occur. Combined with lower thermal conductivity, this provides fire protection not available with other materials.
